Electric and Power Exhibition to target Indonesia’s huge Power demands | News

Electric, Power and Renewable Energy Indonesia 2011 will take place 21-24 September at the Jakarta International Expo, Kemayoran. It will form part of the Energy and Mining Indonesia Series of Trade Exhibitions which also includes three other specialised trade exhibitions held in different halls, Building and Infrastructure Indonesia, Oil and Gas Indonesia and Mining Indonesia occupying all nine halls at the exhibition centre and all available outdoor space.

Held for the 15th time, this years event has attracted over 750 companies from 35 countries, the largest ever number, showing the huge potential in Indonesia’s Power, Electric and Renewable Energy sector. Regional & National Pavilions from China, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Korea, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan and the UK, will showcase the latest technology and equipment to help meet the countries huge demand for additional power.

Indonesian state utility PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) has estimated that the country needs US$9.75bn in investments to reach its targeted growth in electricity production. Further funds are needed for the generation of an additional 6,248 megawatts (MW) of electricity for 2011 and investments of US$6.61bn are required for power plants, US$2.05bn for power transmission and US$1.09bn for distribution facilities. PLN plans to provide 4,985MW of electricity, the remaining 1,262MW is expected to be generated by independent power producers (IPPs).

With the huge opportunities that exist in the country, many of the world’s leading players including ABB, EuroAsiatic, GE, GenPower Asia, Guascor, Hitachi, Hyundai Heavy Industries, Jembo Cable, MTU, Pura Mayungan, Siemens, Schneider and Sucaco have already booked large stands at the exhibition.

Electric Indonesia has once again garnered the full support from the Department of Energy and Mines, PLN (Persero), the Indonesian Electrical Power Society (MKI), the Association of Indonesian Electrical and Mechanical Contractors (AKLI), the Indonesian Electrical Lighting Industry Association (APERLINDO), the Indonesian Electric Cable Manufacturers’ Association (APKABEL) and the Association of Electrical Industries of Indonesia (APPI).

As with previous years a high level conference will be organized by MKI (The Indonesian Electrical Power Society) this conference is timely to meet Indonesia’s Accelerated Power Supply Development.
The Energy and Mining Indonesia Series of Trade Exhibitions are expected to be officiated by the President of Indonesia H.E DR. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, stressing the huge importance the government places on these industries to Indonesia’s future economic development.
